The Financial Accounting Foundation (FAF) is searching for new members to join the Financial Accounting Standards Advisory Council (FASAC) starting January 1, 2026. This advisory body plays a crucial role in advising the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) on various accounting issues, project priorities, and procedural matters.
FASAC comprises roughly 35 members from diverse backgrounds, ensuring a balanced perspective on the FASB's agenda. Members are appointed for an initial one-year term and can be reappointed for up to three additional terms.
💼 Who They're Looking For
Ideal candidates for the FASAC should have extensive experience in financial accounting and reporting. The FAF is particularly interested in individuals with skills and accomplishments in the following areas:
- Investment: Senior equity or debt analysts, private equity investors, credit rating analysts, hedge fund investors, etc.
- Legal: Senior corporate or securities law practitioners.
- Corporate Governance: Members of audit committees from Fortune 500 companies or senior governance experts.
- Corporate: Individuals responsible for a company's external financial reporting, especially from financial services.
- Not-for-Profit: CAOs/CFOs responsible for external financial reporting or major grant makers, donors, or lenders.
- Others: Candidates with unique perspectives that can contribute to FASAC's work.

To nominate a candidate, provide their name, title, and resume or biography using the FASAC nomination form. The deadline for submission is Friday, August 29, 2025. Candidates not selected for this round may be considered for future FASAC classes.
