๐ Whatโs Happening
The SEC is stepping up its game with a roundtable on March 4 to dive into the nitty-gritty of private market valuations. This event, running from 1 to 3 PM ET, will be held at the SECโs Washington D.C. headquarters and streamed live on their website.
Brian Daly, Director of the Division of Investment Management, emphasized the importance of understanding these complex valuations as more everyday investors dip their toes into alternative investments. โWe want to help everyday investors understand the different valuation approaches used in these products,โ Daly noted.
๐ The Panels
The roundtable will feature two panels, each loaded with industry heavyweights.
Panel 1: When Two Worlds Collide
Moderated by Brian Daly, this panel will explore the blurring lines between public and private markets. With experts like Cliff Asness of AQR Capital and Katie King from PwC, expect a deep dive into the opportunities and challenges this integration presents.
Panel 2: Fund Governance
Led by Blair Burnett and Michael Republicano, this panel will discuss the governance challenges and opportunities in managing private market assets. The panel includes names like Pete Driscoll from PwC and Jamila Abston Mayfield from Comply, who will share their insights on best practices and compliance hurdles.
